How to stay relevant as Squash coach

To stay relevant as Squash coach we follow 4 principles: Keep Learning, Be open, Engage with players and Continuously improve.

Keep learning: The world of squash is constantly evolving, and it is important for us to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends. We are not prisoners of our own past experience or training method.

Squash Coach: Keep Learning

Be open to new ideas: Our goal is to stay current and innovative, and to continually improve our skills and abilities as a coach and trainer. What worked well in the past may not work so well nowadays. We adapt.

Squash Coach: Be Open

Engage with players: We strive to have a strong relationship with our athletes, and to be actively engaged with them in their training and development. We want to always understand their needs and goals, and to provide the most effective support and guidance. This is a dialogue, not a top down “trainer to player” relationship.

Squash Coach: Engage with Players

Continually assess and improve: We work on being reflective and self-aware, and regularly assess and evaluate our performance and impact as a coach or trainer. This include seeking feedback from players, colleagues, and other professionals, and using this feedback to identify areas for improvement and to make necessary changes to our approach. It’s an active ride, not a quite cruise.
